Ruling It All Out. Confession #143

I just returned from accompanying Julian to the clinic to get an STD screen.

There is nothing like getting tested for HIV and other yucky diseases to set your heart a' pumpin and your adrenaline rushing.

Such was the case with Julian; confident that he is clean, yet nervous about the results nevertheless. I can certainly identify since I was in his position just a month or so ago.

Except, today Julian had me, his buddy, attend his testing for moral support. We even went and ate a nice lunch at a great sushi restaurant beforehand.

When I got tested, I went alone. And, with no sushi prelude.

But, that is okay. Going solo was certainly my choice. When faced with my sexual mortality, I am best left to ponder the "what-if's" and the "what's next" ... alone. It's just my preference.

But, I was glad to help Julian through this little hurdle. And, while his HIV test came back immediately (it was negative) he still has a week to get the rest of the test results back. And, while he waits he, too shall ruminate on the ramifications his slutting around will have on his sexual future.

Nothing like a scary screening to put things into perspective.

UPDATE- Julian is free and clear
